Call for Proposals for Workshops
2018 BC Society of Transition Houses Annual Training Forum
Nevertheless We Persisted: 40 Years of BCSTH
The BC Society of Transition Houses (BCSTH) invites you to submit a proposal to present at our Annual Training Forum, taking place October 24th -26th, 2018 at the Radisson Hotel Vancouver Airport in Richmond, BC.
This year’s theme is Nevertheless We Persisted: 40 Years of BCSTH which draws on the universal feminist rallying cry that recognizes the courage and tenacity of women overcoming barriers, raising their voices and continuing to work collectively to end violence against women, children and youth. As BCSTH celebrates our Society’s 40th anniversary we look forward to receiving proposals for workshops to enhance support services for women, children and youth fleeing and/or living with the effects of violence.
Our Annual Training Forum is host to over 200 anti-violence workers who support women, youth and children in a variety of capacities including Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling and Empowerment (PEACE), formerly, Children Who Witness Abuse, program counsellors, front-line women support workers, managers and executive directors.
Please complete and return this form by Monday, May 17th. You are welcome to attach any additional documentation and links to video or audio clips that might provide us with more insight into your presentation style and content (i.e. resume, testimonials, evaluation comments, detailed workshop description, social media, media, etc.)
Workshop sessions will vary from 1 hour or 2 hour time slots. Remuneration is provided per workshop, and includes:
- $200 for each workshop
- Up to 2 (two) complimentary full conference registrations per workshop
**Transportation, accommodation, and parking are the sole responsibility of the presenter
**Workshops that do not receive adequate registrations may be cancelled. In this instance, BCSTH will notify the presenters at least 1 week prior to the event.
**Workshops with multiple presenters will share the remuneration
If you find yourself unable to attend at the time your session is scheduled, it is your responsibility to notify the conference planners of such a change as soon as possible and explore options for an alternative presenter.
If you have any questions, please contact our Annual Training Forum Coordinator, Sonia Bhatia, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please feel free to distribute this callout widely.
