The BC Society of Transition Houses (BCSTH) has developed a new handout as part of their Technology Safety Project to provide BC women and anti-violence workers safety tips when using ride sharing and ride hailing services. #WHATSMYNAME – Tips for Staying Safe While Using Rideshare Apps was developed in response to BC’s approval of its first ride sharing service and the release of Uber’s Safety Report which outlines 6000 reports of sexual assault. Ride sharing will begin in parts of Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. This handout was developed in cooperation with the Womanspace and with permission from the #WHATSMYNAME Foundation which was established to honour Samantha Josephson to educate the public on the importance of rideshare safety. The Josephson family has granted permission to BCSTH to use their foundation name to share ridesharing safety information in BC. For more information contact info@bcsth.ca.
