VIP – Grade K – 3 Lesson Plan & Ministry of Education Curriculum

The Ministry of Education (MOE) Physical and Health Education (PHE) Curriculum for the K-3 age group shares “Big Ideas” that are reflected in the lesson plans below. The big ideas you will see throughout the K-3 VIP curriculum are:

  1. Learning about ourselves and others helps us develop a positive attitude and caring behaviour, helping us build healthy relationships.
  2. Having good communication skills and managing our emotions enables us to develop and maintain healthy relationships.
  3. Knowledge about bodies and making healthy and safe choices to look after ourselves (K-1). Building on this knowledge with personal practices and safety strategies to protect ourselves and to protect others (2-3).
  4. In addition, the Career Education curriculum contains core competencies that are supported by the VIP curriculum.
  5. Students will be able to recognize the importance of positive relationships in their lives (K-3).
  6. Share ideas, feelings and personal knowledge with others (1-3).
