The Ministry of Education (MOE) Physical and Health Education (PHE) Curriculum for the K-3 age group shares “Big Ideas” that are reflected in the lesson plans below. The big ideas you will see throughout the K-3 VIP curriculum are:
- Learning about ourselves and others helps us develop a positive attitude and caring behaviour, helping us build healthy relationships.
- Having good communication skills and managing our emotions enables us to develop and maintain healthy relationships.
- Knowledge about bodies and making healthy and safe choices to look after ourselves (K-1). Building on this knowledge with personal practices and safety strategies to protect ourselves and to protect others (2-3).
- In addition, the Career Education curriculum contains core competencies that are supported by the VIP curriculum.
- Students will be able to recognize the importance of positive relationships in their lives (K-3).
- Share ideas, feelings and personal knowledge with others (1-3).
