Appointment of a new Executive Director

For Immediate Release:

Vancouver, BC March 1, 2019

The BC Society of Transition Houses is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Executive Director, effective March 1, 2019.  Amy S. FitzGerald has been the Interim Executive Director, since the departure of Joanne Baker in November of 2018 and we are delighted that she is able to continue on in this position on a permanent basis.

Amy brings extensive knowledge and experience on the issue of violence against women by their intimate partner, having been the BCSTH’s Director of Programs and Training, and serving as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division of the Vermont Attorney General’s Office for over 20 years.  She was the founding Chair of Vermont’s Domestic Violence Fatality Review Commission and served on Vermont’s Child Fatality Review Team. In B.C., Amy has been a policy analyst and has consulted on projects relating to safe transportation needs in Northern BC.  She is deeply committed to the organization and our membership.

Amy’s priorities as Executive Director include leading the BCSTH through a new strategic planning process, providing leadership and strategic guidance to the organization, and providing a strong voice on the issues impacting our membership.

For press inquiries please contact Lisa Rupert, Board Chair lrupert@ywcavan.org or Amy S. FitzGerald, Executive Director at amy@bcsth.ca.
