BC Society of Transition Houses (BCSTH ) has launched our very own in-house podcast!
Today, in honour of Red Dress Day, we have launched episode one of the BCSTH podcast, featuring our member organization Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) and their work supporting the friends and family of missing and murdered Indigenous women girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people along highway 16. Episode one, Pillars of Hope and Strength, will focus on CSFS’s work to fulfill one of the recommendations brought forward by surviving family and friends during the first Highway of Tears Symposium 20 years ago – to have a memorial for their loved ones who went missing or were found murdered along Highway 16. This will be part one of a two-part series, focused on MMIWG2SLGBTQIA+ and how Carrier Sekani Family Services seeks to respond to and end the crisis of violence on the Highway of Tears.
In all future BCSTH Podcast episodes, we will reflect on challenging issues in the gender-based violence sector and how BCSTH member organizations are rising to meet them. We will feature stories of tough realities, collaboration, innovation, activism and hope at a time when successes are often hard won. The goal of this podcast is to highlight the lifesaving work carried out by BCSTH member organizations every day, to respond to, prevent and end gender-based violence in BC.
