This morning, Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) announced their intention to extend provincial and territorial bilateral funding agreements on gender-based violence for an additional four years. 

Minister Valdez announced $607.4 million over four years, beginning in 2027-28, to continue implementation of the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence and renew bilateral agreements with provinces and territories. The funding will support prevention initiatives, services for victims and survivors, Indigenous-led approaches, community programming and other efforts to strengthen coordinated action across Canada. Provinces and territories will continue to be required to at least match the federal investment.

Minister Valdez also announced $31 million over five years, with $6.2 million ongoing, to renew federal funding for provincial and territorial crisis hotlines.
