This video looks at the problems of children and youth witnessing abuse at home and the resulting impact on their ability to learn and their behaviour at school. It is intended to be used with school-based professionals for professional development or as an introduction to using VIP programs in schools

This material was created for children approximately 8 to 11 years of age who have been exposed to physical and emotional abuse at home. Dramatized scenarios are primarily intended for use in small group counselling interventions in school and agency settings to familiarize children with the counselling process. It is not intended to be shown without the presence of a CWWA counsellor or other informed teacher or discussion leader.

This guide is designed to enhance educators’ understanding and awareness of domestic violence and its implications on students and their families. It is an introduction to VIP (Violence is Preventable), a strategy to link BC schools with Children Who Witness Abuse (CWWA) counselling programs which can assist teachers to support students exposed to domestic violence.
